The Program

Since 1992, more than 20,000 select high school students from the United States, Europe, the FSU, South America, and South Africa have been given the opportunity to fulfill their dream of attending high school in Israel through the Elite Academy Program, a unique three-year scholarship program co-funded by the State of Israel and the Jewish Agency for Israel.

Applications for the Elite Academy Program, now in its fourth year in North America, have been pouring in from hundreds of talented North American high school students eager and willing to leave family and friends behind to complete grades 10, 11 and 12 in one of more than 30 Elite Academy-affiliated day schools, boarding schools, Yeshivas or kibbutz regional high schools located throughout Israel.

The program, designed for academically-motivated Jewish students spanning all levels of observance and academic interests, is bolstered by a strong support network comprised of Jewish Agency professionals who continually interface with Elite Academy students and their parents.  Each Elite Academy class has both educational and professional teams working with it, providing social and educational instruction and moral support.  In addition, each Elite Scholar is paired with a host family who provides home-away-from-home hospitality during Sabbath and school holidays, and a warm and caring environment.
Elite Scholars receive full room and board, medical insurance, two free flights -- one each at the beginning and at the end of this 3 year program -- , small monthly stipends, and budgets for travel within Israel and maintaining telephone contact with their parents.  In return, they are required to take their studies seriously, achieve the educational objectives of the Academy, and abide by its rules.  After 14 years, over 90 percent of Elite Academy students have graduated from their adopted school and have received an Israeli Matriculation (Bagrut) that is recognized by the top universities and colleges worldwide.

Is it a school?
The Elite Academy is a program co-funded by the State of Israel and the Jewish Agency for Israel with a network of over 50 affiliated high schools throughout Israel.  A handful of these affiliated high schools are chosen as the educational options for North American students.  The additional high schools serve as the educational options for European, South American, and South African students.

How much does it cost
Absolutely nothing (except for the one time registration fee).  The program, which includes full airfare for the flight to school at the beginning of the 10th grade year, room and board, off-campus travel expenses, tiyulim (special trips), a budget for maintaining telephone contact with family, spending money, and laundry service, is subsidized by the Israeli government and the Jewish Agency for Israel.
